Living in a smaller rental, storage is something I’m asked about fairly often. Storage for small spaces needs to have a dual purpose in my opinion, but not only does it need to be practical, it also needs to look stylish too. Hence why I’m sharing three rattan storage baskets I picked up from The Basket Company recently.
The Basket Company is an online homeware brand specialising in, you guessed it – baskets. But not just any old baskets.
From wicker designs for the bathroom, to log storage for the living room fireplace, The Basket Company has every need covered.
The beauty of rattan storage baskets such as this, is that they fit effortlessly into most home décor styles. Despite it being more commonly used in country cottage style interiors, white-washed styles work great in more coastal and Scandi-inspired spaces, while darker rattan fits in well with more luxe finishes such as marble and slate.
And the best bit? Before I get into sharing three gorgeous pieces of storage below, I wanted to let you know that The Basket Company are offering readers of Apartment Number 4 a 15% discount until the 31st December 2018. Just add the code APT418 at the checkout.
One of my favourite pieces from The Basket Company is the grey and buff rattan tapered top wicker floor basket seen here in my bedroom. Designed primarily to hold logs, I’ve actually utilised this in my bedroom to store the obscene number of cushions and throws I have decorating my bed.
However, as it fits so perfectly in this corner it also makes the perfect laundry basket, especially with the handles so I can carry it directly through to the washing machine – see what I mean about dual usage? I love how the muted tones fit so well with my pink and cream (I refuse to use the word magnolia) colour scheme.
The second piece I ordered was this tall white and wicker storage basket. Measuring 54cm in height, I knew it was slightly too tall for a waste paper bin, and perhaps a little too tall to hold a floor plant.
However, when I started to look around my office, I knew I need somewhere to keep my rolls of flatlay backgrounds I have for photoshoots. The basket I had previously looked great but wasn’t sturdy enough, so they would often fall out – not good for the tidy perfectionist in me.
I really like to contemporary design to this storage basket and think it works perfectly in the corner of my office.
Finally, I wanted to add a little life to my living room so I ordered a grey and buff rattan tapered plant pot, filling it with the most gorgeous hydrangeas from the local florist.
I’ve been making a conscious effort to shop more locally recently, as my village has pretty much everything you’d need from a butcher to a DIY shop to a greengrocer and more. Priced at £4.50, I think these flowers
